Ranch Water

adidas gucci styling

Undeniably inspired by both the pairing of tailoring and sport from the recent Gucci x Adidas collaboration and the recent news that Dallas will be a host city for FIFA World Cup 2026, I bought the classic adilette pool slide to explore this as a styling concept in my own wardrobe.

My interpretation of tailoring was in the shapes and silhouettes but I kept the idea soft in casual and rustic fabrics. I added a giant straw hat as a nod to my 8 year anniversary of living in Texas.

I chose to keep this palette neutral with a light wash oversized jean and added a little polish from the sleek Prada Cleo bag, continuing the soft color conversation with saddle brown.

From a personal POV, there was so much nostalgia and personal reference in this styling. Because Adidas is the premier brand for soccer goods and the Gucci brand appeals to the sport client, this collaboration felt natural and beautifully highlighted the characteristics of each brand without compromise.

Growing up in the 90’s, Adidas was a prominent brand in all categories. The brand with the three stripes is iconic to my generation and I am so inspired to style classic logos like the trefoil and the signature colors in a new way.

Finally, my husband and I have been watching World Cup together since 2006. I won’t claim to be a committed soccer fan because I lose track of players and team standings in the 4 years between World Cup Matches, but I love the global fanfare and excitement from WC. I even used to skip classes and studio time in college to watch matches in real time!! Ha!

It’s amazing how events outside of the fashion industry, including your personal POV, can inspire your styling decisions if you let it. With all things considered, I call this look Ranch Water, named after a familiar favorite cocktail from Texas.
