Building a Print Collection for Impactful Print Mixing

Print Mixing happens in the moment; it’s bold and unpredictable and gives you full ownership of your look.

If you think Print Mixing is the right expression for you, my best advice is to start a collection of prints. This is a technique in which you need options because there are so many variations that can be built year after year.

I’m sharing some ideas to consider when adding prints to your wardrobe:

  • Prints (or woven patterns) are useful in all categories- scarves, sweaters, bags, pants, dresses, tops shoes, etc. If you are new to print styling, consider adding prints in scarves, sweaters, or handbags where it can be removed from the look when you need a break.

  • Shop from the heart. Prints are highly emotional, it’s like responding to art. If you buy print pieces from an emotional place, you WILL find a way to wear it!

  • Vintage is your friend! I can not express the power of vintage enough when it comes to prints and patterns. There is an element of authenticity that just can not be replicated when it comes to vintage. THAT is the sentiment we’re going for in print styling!
